Back to School and Chicago Loop Cowl
We had a lovely last weekend before school started, visiting the Little House by the Little Lake one last time.
On the one rainy morning, we had lunch at Shu’s Grill in downtown St Joseph; impressive! I’ve never seen a place serve handmade pizzas for the kids’ meals, and my Blackened Whitefish and rice was delectable.
We walked on the cobblestones, looked at the toy store and ate some Mackinac Island Fudge; Li’l Buddy and I shared a piece of Salted Caramel fudge, which we got to carve up with tiny plastic knives.
Yesterday, the kids started school; goodbye, summer, hello, fall! We didn’t have exactly fall weather for the first day, but after a nice thunderstorm last night, things have cooled off nicely.
Fall means time for me to get back to work, and time for new knitting and new patterns!
Today brings one of my favorite projects for the Knitting Recipes:Hat and Cowls book: the Chicago Loop Cowl!
Knitted with Blue Sky Alpaca’s delightful Melange sport-weight yarn, the simple, reversible lace makes a long cowl to wear as one loop…
Or doubled around the neck for extra warmth.
The Chicago Loop was inspired by Mike’s and my mini-honeymoon in downtown Chicago!
Have a great September, everyone,
