Yesterday, my daughter’s school hosted Family and Friends Day, even with pumpkin doughnuts and a kids’ Art Gallery.  Such sweetness…

The highlight for Belle’s class was their World Folk Tale skits–they’ve been building scenery and costumes like mad for ten days. After watching my daughter play the role of The Old Woman Inside the Pumpkin (no line prompting needed–I was proud) we all filed into the gym for the All-School Sing. I totally remember those!

It was short and sweet–only five or six songs we all sang together. But, sap that I am, by the second one I was already winking and hoping nobody was looking at me.  My friend the roller-derby mama and I commiserated, since we agreed that just seeing the title make us bust out the tissues.

So in the spirit of the Thanksgiving Holiday, here it is:

All I really need is a song in my
heart

Food in my belly and love in my
family

All I really need is a song in my
heart

And love in my family

And I need the rain to fall

And I need the sun to shine

To give life to the seeds we sow

To give the food we need to grow

All I really need is a song in my
heart

And love in my family

And I need some clean water for drinking;

And I need some clean air for
breathing;

So that I can grow up strong

And take my place where I belong

All I really need is a song in my
heart

And love in my family

We’re hosting today–my mom and dad, two aunts, bro and SIL. We cleaned the house and I baked pumpkin pies last night–my dad takes care of the main dishes and everyone else contributes special side dishes, so , while they’re cooking I’m looking forward to getting some knitting time in. The only problem–all the people I’m making presents for will be there! Guess I’ll have to work on patterns for the new Koi….Img_0024

Soon I’ll have a FO–my SIL’s Huckleberry Ascot is two-thirds done! I have a feeling that’s one of those patterns I’ll just keep knitting again and again.

I’m so grateful for the love in my family.

I wish you all safe travels and a good holiday,
Jaala
