Happy Solstice time dear readers.  Our family celebrated midsummer by going to a neighborhood bonfire at sunset.  As part of the solstice ritual, we wrote three wishes onto a paper and threw it on the fire.  One wish for something we want to get rid of in the upcoming year.  One wish for something in the entire world we could have if we were all powerful and anything were possible, and one wish for something we really want in our own lives this year.  It was a beautiful evening and a lovely ritual.  I danced around the fire to drumbeats with my middle daughter and when we tired we biked home in the dark.

I have been working hard finishing up some of my WIPs.  With some determination I should have plenty of FO’s in the next week or so.  The pictures here are of a little felted "Origami" crane that I made to take to a peace rally this Memorial Day.  The crane is part of a project, Knitnotwar 1,0o0, where felted origami cranes are used in an antiwar art installation.   I read about the pattern in the current issue of Knit.1 and downloaded the pattern.  It was quick and fun, though my crane looks more like a pterodactyl than a bird.  Oh well.  It was made with some leftover knitpicks elegance (alpaca/silk) that I had from sugar on snow. I attached it to the peace wreath my family made to bring to the rally and it was beautiful.  The wreath and crane are still outside hanging from my tree.

Let there be Peace on Earth
