Mithrandir Gradient Striped Matching Socks Set, dyed to order
Gradient-Striped Sock Yarn was invented by Knitcircus Dyer Jaala Spiro. This unique dyeing technique creates short stripes for instant gratification and an overall gradient effect. The main color of the sock changes slowly as you knit - from almost completely one color to almost completely another. The gradients and the stripes happen magically as you knit! No knots in your socks. Each "matching socks set" includes two cakes dyed to match exactly - down to the stitch! You can choose to start from the center of the cake or from the outside, and whether to knit toe-up or top-down! So many choices.
Our sock sets are generous in yardage, so you shouldn't run short. In fact, depending on your foot size and the gauge of your knitting, you may not use all of the yarn, in which case you may miss a color of the gradient stripes! For that reason, we recommend toe-up socks, so you can make the cuff as long as you need to use up every last bit of yarn.
*Mithrandir Gradient Stripes* is named for the elves' name for Gandalf the Grey, wizard whose work upon Middle Earth was completed by destroying Sauron. Maybe you don't need to wander the hills, fall into shadow while battling a fire demon or lead a battle charge upon your horse Shadowfax, but you may still want to consider this piece of advice from Gandalf: "All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” (So spend your time knitting!)
