Issue 11 cover

I'd like to take a moment to thank everyone who's read or contributed to Knitcircus in 2010; knitcircus moved online in February, and the response has been heartwarming.

Winter cover med

We've had exciting additions to the Knitcircus team this year; Cindy Webber joined us as Webmaster, Tracy Harris brought us a stylish new look as Creative Director, Kegan Carter has been the magician behind the Pattern Collection layout,  Nicole Miyashiro lends her eagle eye to our text, Kate Schiffman stars in front of and behind the camera and Staff writer Miss T moved up to Contributing Editor, joined by the fabulous Wendy Johnson. Our newest addition, Stephannie Tallent, has shown her chops as Tech Editor as well as designer, and of course, we couldn't do it without lead Tech Editor Ada Lai. Elizabeth Morrison continues as a valuable resource, lending her talents to pattern editing and camera work.

We're learning new media–the Winter issue's our first incorporating videos and we joined Twitter, which has been a source for lots of great links, conversation and jokes with other knitterly tweeps. Please find us there as @knitcircus if you haven't already so we can say hi! We've added a new Facebook page, and had a lot of fun trying different contests–the Treasure Hunt and Name That Yarn stood out as faves.

My personal favorite knitting techniques learned this year were Sarah's stretchy cast-on,  the figure 8 cast-on, trying Japanese stitch patterns and finally understanding how to knit two socks on two circs.

Adding the Gifts issue was a bit of a stretch for us, and allowed us to experiment with selling individual patterns pdfs along with the Pattern Collections. Jury's still out on whether we'll incorporate that idea into the regular magazines. Speaking of Gifts, all of those patterns will disappear in a poof of 2011 glitter at day's end Jan 1, so if you'd like to purchase Serendipity, Josephine or their friends, now's the time!

A sneak peek at 2011- the magic yarn ball shows a Knitcircus You Tube channel, Knitting Retreat and bringing us full circle with Knitcircus in Your LYS. Stay tuned for more on all of those and a big surprise we've got in the works hopefully for Fall!

Sending you warmest wishes for the New Year; may your knitting and crochet both relax and challenge you at the appropriate moments and may your gauge always be true,
