August family circls sock

Hey, I had to share this Style feature with you; socks with fancy shoes are all the rage. And this was in Family Circle, not Vogue, so it's aimed at real people. Handknit socks must be driving this trend!

I can think of a couple of candidates for trying this style:

Clover sockmedium
In the Clover Socks, by Jane Prater of JPKnits.  Check out that Balbriggan Heel! I'd love to try these myself to get the hang of that cool technique.

Jane's giving away three Pattern Collections on her blog, Merely a Suggestion, today, so click on over for a chance to win.

Jera 2
Jera Socks, by Ariel Altaras. These are so rich in detail it would be a shame to cover them with just any shoes…

And we're rich in giveaways today! Besides the Merely a Suggestion blog, you've a chance to win Pattern Collections, Year-long Pattern Collection Subscriptions and luxury yarns.

Bolla bag photoshop_edit
Bolla Bag designer Daniella Cortez is giving away two Pattern Collections on Danido Crafty, and she's even giving extra credit if you tweet, facebook, carrier pigeon or plurk the contest!

Rosie 2

Friend of Knitcircus designer Diana Troldalhl, of Rosie Socks fame, has kindly agreed to offer not only Pattern Collections, but free pattern downloads of her designs! Quick, jump over to Otterwise to sign up for that generous giveaway!

Designer Stephannie Tallent, who has not one but two designs in the Fall issue (Delovely pictured here) is holding not one, but two giveaways. Check out her Ravelry group for the chance to win Pattern Collections, and she's offering Handwerks Classic Sock yarn in addition on her blog, Sunset Cat.

Then of course, Wendy Johnson, who wrote the Charting 101 article as the first in her techniques column installments, is giving away five Pattern Collections and two subscriptions at Wendy Knits!

And, if you prefer your giveaways across the pond, Morrolessocks is giving away two skeins of Icelandic DK from Sun Valley Fiber Farm!

Whew! Enjoy.
