Img_0149When I was growing up, my mom always made holiday mornings like a little party–we’d wake up and trot out to the dining room to see a tablecloth, plates and sepcial little presents. If it was a birthday, the child would have a balloon waiting in her cup.

We continue the tradition with morning celebrations. So today, I put out my favorite vintage tablecloth and Mike made pink pancakes.Img_0151  They’re good with milk, as Li’l A can tell you.

I made the little Valentine ornament for my mom, who joined us for our early breakfast this morning. It’s a layer of randomly crumpled gauze quilted onto felt and the polka-dot fabric, then sewn into a pillow with the ruffle machine-sewn on and peace sign hand-embroidered and appliquéd. It’s so much fun to make those little things!
Mike brought flowers not only for me, but for my mom as well. He’s a keeper, that guy.

So Happy Day to everyone. I hope you all felt appreciated by those around you, and gave or got a little treat or two….
