Finally beat the blockin’ blues
I was done with all the knitting on this piece (Sugar on Snow, from last fall’s Knitty) a couple weeks ago, but it’s been in blocking limbo as I refused to deal with it until last weekend. Here, Baby A models it in today’s warm sunny weather. The hat is knit in Knit Picks Elegance, which is completely soft and luscious, and the leaves are knit in Knit Picks Andean treasure. It was fun to knit up this little faux cable pattern in this lovely yarn.
I have to admit, I’m really happy with it. I have been really spacey-sleep deprived-hurried recently and have been reading all my patterns wrong. This one no exception. I was so bummed out when I realized that I made the piece quite a bit too short. But it works out OK for a baby hat and fits on my neck fine so I don’t really mind.
On to the cupcakes. I have been focused on the chocolate varieties. I’ve made three different types and while they are all yummy, the ones with cherry sauce ladled inside take the prize in my book. Yum.
Also, Middle Daughter got her first big kid bike this weekend. It’s a vintage Schwinn with a banana seat and it’s too cool. It was missing one of it’s handlebar streamers so we whipped up a new one using recycled sari silk yarn. She loves it as you can clearly see in the picture of her hamming it up on her new wheels!
