From the designer:
A bicycle chainring converts the reciprocating motion of the rider’s legs into rotational motion. Although the chainring is a small part of the bicycle as a whole, it is essential for setting the bike and the rider in motion. The decrease stitches and simple pulled up loops of yarn in the chainring shawl pattern create a unique circular stitch that is reminiscent of a bike’s chainring. Creating these lovely stitches will drive your knitting and soon you will be wearing your beautiful new shawl. The Chainring Shawl is a ¾ shaped shawl. This comfortable shape drapes beautifully when worn.
